The research phase explored the impact of increased screen time on children’s attention spans and learning behaviours following COVID-19. Through conversations with parents and educators, competitor analysis and research into child development, I identified a need for digital experiences that felt both educational and engaging without becoming overwhelming. A Value Proposition Canvas was used to align user needs with the app’s goal of creating structured, rewarding and development-focused screen time for children while still giving parents reassurance and visibility.

The design process focused on creating a playful but intuitive interface that balanced usability with engagement for younger users. The experience developed from low-fidelity wireframes into high-fidelity mobile screens covering onboarding, gameplay and progress tracking systems. Visual decisions such as the use of a soft colour palette, simplified navigation and a guiding bear cub mascot helped create a more approachable and child-friendly experience, while parent-facing tools provided structure, reminders and progress visibility.
